At the Penobscot Bay YMCA, we nurture the potential of everyone, from infants to elders, improve our community’s health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors.
We are committed to strengthening our community by ensuring that everyone—regardless of age, background, or financial situation—has access to the programs and services they need to thrive. Each year, we serve over 11,000 people through health, sports, and wellness programs for all ages, early child care, camp and after-school enrichment, aquatics, social programming, and community health outreach.
With the support of generous donors like you, we provide financial assistance for Y membership and all of our programs, ensuring that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. We are the largest provider of affordable child care programs for working families, including one of the only center-based providers in Knox County caring for babies as young as 6 weeks old at the Lily Pond Infant Care Center. Our Community Health Promotion programs offer vital support for substance use prevention, tobacco use prevention, and nutrition education, while LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA helps cancer survivors regain strength and confidence.
