The Y’s After School Programs provide a safe environment for learning and creative exploration, fostering each child’s individual potential. Serving students from kindergarten to grade 5, our daily activities include S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math), games, physical activities, and arts and crafts. Our dedicated staff are well-versed in the cognitive, physical, and social development of children, supporting both them and their families by ensuring a nurturing and safe environment for growth and development.
Childcare expenses are a significant burden for working families, particularly lower-income families. Recognizing this challenge, the Y collaborates with the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) to facilitate and process payments for families in need of financial assistance for after-school care. However, it's important to note that DHHS payments may not cover the entire program cost. Additionally, many working families fall outside the eligibility criteria for DHHS support, yet still struggle to afford the full expenses of our programs.
With support from our generous donors, we are launching the After School Financial Assistance Program for the 2024 – 2025 school year. Financial assistance will be available to families with children in our after school programs at South School (Rockland), Ash Point Community School (Owls Head), Thomaston Grammar School, and Camden Rockport Elementary School.
To apply for financial assistance, families should complete the application online and explain any special circumstances to help us better understand your need. Assistance will be awarded based on need and available funds. As this is a pilot year, our funds are limited, however, we plan to continue fundraising annually to respond to the growing need in our community for affordable care. Families will need to reapply each year and provide proof of household income.
We are grateful for your support!
