Please help our community raise $2,500 to keep the Rockland Community Center (recently renamed Flanagan Community Center) facility open during the summer months.
The Flanagan Community Center, operated by the Penobscot Bay YMCA in collaboration with the City of Rockland, is open and completely free to youth in the region. In addition, adults of all ages are able to access the facility with a YMCA membership. Adults and teens are able to play basketball, volleyball and dodgeball, along with numerous other community orientated activities. While youth from the surrounding area use the facility to engage in a wide variety of healthy activities, interact with positive role models and most importantly, grow in a safe and supervised environment.
Through funding from the City of Rockland and the generous support of local businesses the Rockland Community Center is able provide services to the region throughout the school year. The YMCA is seeking funding from private donors to extend this service through the summer months. Services planned for 2017 at the RCC include a Kindergarten Summer Camp, Basketball Camps, and Noontime Basketball for adults and lots of open gym and game room time for youth. Ultimately, the YMCA hopes to provide services to over 100 youth each day this summer.
