Evening Fitness Instructors (Part-time)

Openings for part-time evening fitness instructors in both Rockport & Rockland to work 1 to 5 hours per week.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Modifies class as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  2. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
  4. Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
  5. Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.
  6. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
  7. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Lead Toddler Teacher - Rockport

Job Type: Full Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Do you want to help children grow and reach developmental milestones?  We are looking to hire a Lead Toddler teacher for a full-time year round position at the YMCA Childcare Center in Rockport. This is a daytime, Monday through Friday schedule.

  • Supervise and monitor all classroom activity, provide direction to assistant teaching staff.
  • Develops and implements high quality age appropriate curriculum using observations, creative curriculum guidelines and goals for the classroom.
  • Foster a healthy and safe classroom environment.
  • Be aware of and adhere to all YMCA policies, DHHS licensing regulations, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
  • Facilitate age appropriate, educational lessons on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that the classrooms are arranged in a functional and orderly manner.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy relationship with parents and children.
  • Assist in the ongoing evaluation process needed to assess the developmental levels of children.
  • Provide appropriate guidance to children in need of redirection and relate well to children of all abilities.
  • Perform necessary duties to ensure children’s comfort and well being to include diaper changing and feeding.

Monday through Friday daytime schedule, 40 hours per week.

Lifeguards (Part-time positions 4 hrs to 10 hrs per week)

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

Primary Duties: 
Help us create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.  

Lifeguards make so many important things happen at the Y, kids are able to have swim lessons, adults are able to exercise, rehabilitation appointments can occur, in water fitness classes, swim team and so much more. So many families, adults and children use the Y pool every single day. Come be a part of making a difference and supporting healthy living in your community.

Lincolnville After School Program Staff

Job Type: Seasonal - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

Now Hiring -  Afterschool Program Staff - Lincolnville Central School - 2019/2020 School Year

Part-time Position Available: 

1 position open in the Lincolnville Program 

Work afternoons Monday through Friday. No nights, no weekends. Position hours and days follow the school calendar.

Approximately 15 hours/week at LCS, 2:30pm until 5:30pm, Monday - Friday 

Imagine going to work knowing that what you do each day positively influences the lives of people in your community. Now is your chance, by working at the YMCA after-school program with children in grades K-5.  Help implement high quality after-school programming that focuses on social responsibility and health living. Our after-school programs promote physical activity, STEM activities and time to do homework. Active engagement with the children in the program is paramount to the success of the entire after-school program. Part-Time Cleaning Position - Flanagan Center

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Rockland Community Center

Cleaning Position - 10 hours per week, flexible hours (Part-time)- Rockland Flanagan Community Center
 

We are looking for self-motivated and dependable person who has a demonstrated ability to work independently to join our Flanagan Center Team.  Make a difference by working for a non-profit in your community by helping us to provide a clean facility for your community to enjoy. We are looking for someone to work approximately 10 hours a week, hours and days are flexible. 

 

 Primary Duties:

  • Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning locker rooms/bathrooms, wet and dust mopping, trash removal,  vacuuming, and general cleaning.

  • Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

  • Replaces soap, paper towels, sanitizer, and other supplies.

Teen Center Staff (2019-20 School Year)

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Teen Center

Job Description: 

Provides a safe and positive environment for youth who attend the Teen Center, primarily children in 5th and 6th grade, through direct supervision, role modeling positive behaviors (mission & values) and maintaining open and direct two-way communication with the Program Coordinator, Norm Parratt. 

Schedule:
Monday through Friday 18-25 hours per week.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
