Custodian (5:30 - 10:00 PM)

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

Custodial Position -   (Evening Position Part-time)- Rockport
 

We are looking for self-motivated and dependable person who has a demonstrated ability to work independently to join our facilities team at the Penobscot Bay Y. Make a difference by working for a non-profit in your community by helping us to provide a clean facility for our community to enjoy.

 Primary Duties:

  • Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment at the Penobscot Bay YMCA and the Teen Center.  Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning locker rooms/bathrooms, cleaning childcare center, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.

  • Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.

  • Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.

  • Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

  • Replaces soap, paper towels, sanitizer, and other supplies.

  • May set up furniture for events.

  • In the winter, will shovel snow on walkways or utilize snowblower. During spring through fall may perform outside maintenance such as lawn mowing, mulching, trimming, weeding, etc.

Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license. Schedule is Monday through Friday 5:30 to 10:00 PM.

 
Free adult membership to the Y in both Rockland and Rockport with part-time employment.

Lead Toddler Teacher - Rockport

Job Type: Full Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Do you want to help children grow and reach developmental milestones?  We are looking to hire a Lead Toddler teacher for a full-time year round position at the YMCA Childcare Center in Rockport. This is a daytime, Monday through Friday schedule.

  • Supervise and monitor all classroom activity, provide direction to assistant teaching staff.
  • Develops and implements high quality age appropriate curriculum using observations, creative curriculum guidelines and goals for the classroom.
  • Foster a healthy and safe classroom environment.
  • Be aware of and adhere to all YMCA policies, DHHS licensing regulations, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
  • Facilitate age appropriate, educational lessons on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that the classrooms are arranged in a functional and orderly manner.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy relationship with parents and children.
  • Assist in the ongoing evaluation process needed to assess the developmental levels of children.
  • Provide appropriate guidance to children in need of redirection and relate well to children of all abilities.
  • Perform necessary duties to ensure children’s comfort and well being to include diaper changing and feeding.

Lifeguards

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

Primary Duties: 
Help us create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.  

Lifeguards make so many important things happen at the Y, kids are able to have swim lessons, adults are able to exercise, rehabilitation appointments can occur, in water fitness classes, swim team and so much more. Summer Camp Before & After Care Positions

Job Type: Seasonal - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

Part-time Summer Jobs at the Camden Snow bowl

 

The Y is looking for people who love to be outside and enjoy working with school aged kids to staff our before and aftercare for our summer camp programs. The morning shift will be from 7:00am until 8:45am and the afternoon shift will be from 3:30 to 5:45pm at the Camden Snowbowl.  You can choose to work one shift or both shifts depending on your schedule.  This role will begin on Monday June 24 and will be for 5 days a week Monday through Friday through August 23. (You will have July 4 off)

Your role will be to lead fun and engaging activities such as outdoor games, craft activities, and so much more. 

Job Requirements:

Must be at least 16 years of age by June 24 and enjoy working with school aged children.

Teen Center Staff (Summer)

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Teen Center

Job Description: 

Provides a safe and positive environment for youth who attend the Teen Center, primarily children in 5th and 6th grade, through direct supervision, role modeling positive behaviors (mission & values) and maintaining open and direct two-way communication with the Program Coordinator, Norm Parratt. 

Schedule:
Monday through Friday 10-25 hours per week through August.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Welcome Center Staff - Evenings & Weekends (Rockport & Rockland)

Are you great at making an outstanding “first” and “last” impression as members and participants enter and exit the YMCA? We have immediate part-time openings for people who want to make a significant positive impact in the lives of our neighbors and friends. We are looking for welcoming and dependable part-time membership representatives to join our Rockport and Rockland teams. Responsibilities include greeting and checking in guests and members, taking payments, program sign-ups, facility tours and enrolling new members. Current shift openings include weekend shifts and possibly one Friday evening shift.

Positions require computer skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships with our members and guests, while being able to process paperwork accurately.

This job requires the ability to put YMCA members and guests first!  Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.

  • Be creative in finding ways to successfully meet member needs.
  • Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual    situations or unresolved issues.
  • Accurately handle cash and electronic transactions and complete shift closeout.
  • Utilize Daxko system to process transactions, register participants and record payments.
  • Receive and warm transfer calls to other staff members
  • Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the good of the association, may hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required, fill out accident reports as needed and other clerical tasks as needed.
