Must be able to work Monday through Friday schedule from June 17 through August 23.

Come join the fun for summer 2019!  Be a positive role model to children in our community.  Camp counselors provide a safe, nurturing and positive environment for all camp participants, ensuring that campers have a fun and enriching experience.  By leading by example, counselors shall teach the campers the importance of the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

This is a great summer job for students considering a career in education to gain valuable experience in the field. We will complete all hiring for summer camp by the middle of February so apply now if you are interested in working this summer at the Y. We prefer camp counselors to have a lifeguard certification and will pay for the course for qualified applicants. Counselors with lifeguard certification earn $1 per hour more than counselors without the certification.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 17 years of age.

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.

  • Experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting.

  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.

  • Demonstrated maturity to handle the responsibilities involved in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for all participants
