After School Program Staff ($15/Hour)

Now Hiring for the 2017-18 School Year -  Afterschool Program Staff - Thomaston Grammar School

Part-time positions Available:

1 position open in Thomaston program due to maternity leave

Work afternoons Monday through Friday. No nights, no weekends. Position hours and days follow the school calendar.

Approximately 15 hours/week, 2:30pm until 5:30pm, Monday - Friday, Starting pay $15.00/hour

Assistant Swim Coach

We prefer camp counselors to have a lifeguard certification and will pay for the course for qualified applicants. Counselors with lifeguard certification earn $1 per hour more than counselors without the certification.

KinderKamp Director - 2 Openings (Rockland & Rockport)

Kinderkamp Summer Camp Director 2 Positions: 1 Rockland, 1 Rockport

Come lead camp for kids entering or exiting kindergarten for the summer of 2018! This is a new program for Rockland and will be based at the Flanagan Community Center and will run for 9 weeks.   The Rockport Camp will be based at Lily Pond House in Rockport and will also run for 9 weeks.

The Camp Director provides a safe, nurturing and positive environment for children with a focus on the YMCA's core values of: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

  • Directs and supervises KinderKamp program activities to meet YMCA objectives.
  • Exemplify the YMCA philosophy in teaching to reflect a positive image, promoting the healthy growth and development of youth.
  • Establish and maintain a clear line of communication with parents, campers, and other camp staff.
  • Provide an emotionally and physically safe environment for campers.
  • Incorporate STEM activities for children and opportunities to learn and prepare children for the next school year.
  • Write weekly newsletters.
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records (busing lists, accident & incident reports, field trip permission slips, group lists, camp schedules).

Tobacco Prevention Specialist

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

General Summary:

The Tobacco Prevention Specialist with support from the Coalition Director works to implement grant specific program objectives. The goals and tasks for this project are community education, policy and systems changes, and environmental enhancements at the community level for the prevention of chronic disease related to tobacco use.

Frequent driving throughout  is required, as is less frequent travel to other locations in the state. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implements evidence-based prevention strategies identified in collaboration with KCCHC Coalition Director and other identified partners.
  • Works closely with KCCHC staff, State and local partners to implement cohesive, integrated and culturally appropriate tobacco prevention strategies
  • Identifies and engages partners throughout the local service area including municipalities, lodging, youth serving organizations, veterinarians, healthcare, including behavioral healthcare, providers, schools and parents
  • Assures required data is collected and entered in online and other required reporting systems
  •  Assists with additional grant reporting requirements in order for reports to be accurate and submitted on-time.
  • Works closely with local, county-wide, public health district and state partners; and other stakeholders to collaborate and coordinate assessments and implement interventions
  • Participate in required grantee meetings, teleconferences, webinars
  • Forms partnerships with agencies, organizations, coalitions and community groups that serve populations with disparities, or are made up of populations with disparities.

  • Develops, writes and edits various print communications materials. Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.

  • Be knowledgeable of the interface between KCCHC and the YMCA, how they work together as part of and to strengthen the public health infrastructure.

  • Perform all other duties that maybe required.
