Assistant to the Childcare Director

Job Type: Full Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position supports the work of the Penobscot Bay YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Helps to develop and implement high quality YMCA Childcare programs.

IMPACT ON MISSION: To support children in a reaching their full potential by allowing them to express their talents creatively and physically in a safe, healthy and enriching early learning environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with management of the early learning programs for the Rockport & Rockland locations, including the Childwatch Programs. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.
  2. Assists with classroom coverage in Rockport and Rockland and covering for teacher and Childcare Director Personal Time Off.
  3. Maintain NAEYC accreditation status.
  4. Assists with the development, and scheduling of staff and volunteers as needed. 
  5. Supports and budget for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  6. Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. Maintain the quality rating system.
  7. Monitors upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment ensuring the physical environment is safe and supports healthy living.
  8. Maintains proper records/department files.
  9. Provides a minimum of 20 hours of classroom coverage per week.
  10. Helps facilitate monthly department staff meetings and relevant training as required by the YMCA and DHHS and Maine Roads to Quality.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned for the good of the organization.

Before School Care Program Staff

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

We are looking for one person to join our Before Care Team. The Penobscot Bay YMCA's Before School Program provides early care for school aged children from 7am to 8:40am Monday through Friday. The bus stops at Before Care each morning and the staff is responsible for putting the children safely on the bus each morning. This position will run from now until the end of the school year, with the possibility of resuming these duties in the fall. If you are looking for more hours we can combine this position with another part-time role in childcare to increase the weekly hours.

Job Description:

Penobscot Bay YMCA is seeking a successful and proven Competitive Swim Director / Head Coach. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, this individual is responsible for the management of the swim team in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the YMCA of the USA, USA Swimming and the Penobscot Bay YMCA. The person filling this position needs to possess knowledge of competitive swimming and be able to utilize various instructional techniques based on age and ability. This individual is expected to form positive relationships, mentor as appropriate and effectively communicate with coaching staff, swim team members, parents and the Penobscot Bay YMCA Community in general. The successful candidate must have a vision for growth and be willing to work within the Aquatics Department and community to develop a larger, year-around competitive swim program.

 

Essential Functions:

Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

¨ Hires, trains, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.

¨ Monitors team activities to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.

¨ Plans and monitors all aspects of training and competition, including swim team practice and meet schedules. 

¨ Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

¨ In conjunction with the Aquatics Director, develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.

¨ Assists in YMCA and Swim Team fund raising activities and special events.

¨ Effectively communicates to all competitive swimming stakeholders including; participants, parents, assistant coaches, members and fellow Y staff members.

¨ Compiles and manages program statistics and data. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.

¨ Create and implement developmentally appropriate training programs for all swim team athletes.

¨ Instruct swim lessons and stroke development clinics.

¨ Creates and maintains a positive, supportive team environment, where all athletes grow and develop into healthy young adults.

Teen Center Staff Opening

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Teen Center

Job Description: 

Provides a safe and positive environment for youth who attend the Teen Center, through direct supervision, role modeling positive behaviors (mission & values) and maintaining open and direct two-way communication with the Program Coordinator. 

 

Schedule:

Monday through Friday 2:30pm - 6:00pm.

The Teen Center is closed when school is not in session. This position will begin on September 4, 2018 from now through the last day of school for CRMS for the 2018-19 school year.
