Now Hiring for the 2017-18 School Year -  Afterschool Program Staff

Part-time positions Available:

2 positions open in Rockport, 2 positions in Rockland

Work afternoons Monday through Friday. No nights, no weekends. Position hours and days follow the school calendar.

Approximately 15 hours/week, after-school hours until 5:30pm, Monday - Friday, Starting pay $15.00/hour

Assistant Aquatics Director

Job Type: Full Time - Location: Penobscot Bay YMCA

With guidance from the Aquatics Director, the Assistant Aquatics Director helps to develop, organize and implement high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatics programs. Assists with the management of department activity to meet YMCA objectives. Trains, schedules and  directs staff and volunteers. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all State, Local, and YMCA health and safety regulations. Assists with proper maintenance of pools.     Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.

Custodian (Night Shift)

Custodial Positions - Evening Shift  (Full-time)- Rockport
 

We are looking for self-motivated and dependable people to join our facilities team. The Penobscot Bay YMCA is celebrating its 100 year anniversary this year. Make a difference by working for a non-profit in your community by helping us to provide a clean facility for your community to enjoy.

 Primary Duties:

  • Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment.  Duties include, but are not limited to, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.

  • Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.

  • Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.

  • Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

  • Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.

  • May set up furniture for events.

Rockland Afterschool Activities & Sports Coordinator

Job Type: Seasonal - Location: Rockland Community Center

Immediate Opening for Sports & Activities Coordinator Part-Time at the Rockland Community Center 

61 Limerock St. Rockland, Maine

Part-time position 19-25 hours per week

Weekday Shift: Monday through Friday 2:30pm -6pm supervising open gym time and activities in the game area.

Welcome Center Staff (Rockland & Rockport)

Are you great at making an outstanding “first” and “last” impression as members and participants enter and exit the YMCA? We have two immediate part-time openings for people who want to make a significant positive impact in the lives of our neighbors and friends. We are looking for welcoming and dependable part-time membership representatives to join our Rockport and Rockland teams. Responsibilities include greeting and checking in guests and members, taking payments, program sign-ups, facility tours and enrolling new members. Current shift openings include some weekend shifts specifically Saturdays , weekday opening shifts with a start time of 5am, multiple schedule options available. 

Positions require computer skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships with our members and guests, while being able to process paperwork accurately.

This job requires the ability to put YMCA members and guests first!  Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.

  • Be creative in finding ways to successfully meet member needs.
  • Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual    situations or unresolved issues.
  • Accurately handle cash and electronic transactions and complete shift closeout.
  • Utilize Daxko system to process transactions, register participants and record payments.
  • Receive and warm transfer calls to other staff members
  • Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the good of the association, may hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required, fill out accident reports as needed and other clerical tasks as needed.

  3. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  4. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
